| Q 1:- |
I bought an old home and it seems as though the windows have never been maintained, if the rot is really bad, is restoration an option? |
Ans:
Typically we are able to restore virtually any window. If the house has been consistently lived in then the windows are likely repairable through Boston Bi Glass methods. Many homeowners believe their windows are in bad shape when in fact the wood is solid and in need of a good cleaning, sanding, prime and paint. When Boston Bi Glass is finished with your windows you'll have air tight , higher efficiency windows that decrease external street noise, operate easily, and provide security for your home. Please read more about the Bi Glass process .

| Q 2:- |
How long does the process to restore my windows take? |
|
Ans:
In general we are able to re manufacture up to 20 windows per week. Depending on your window size and condition we may be able to convert as many as 6 windows in one day though we average 4. We never rush our work and on occasion will work weekends to meet client scheduling needs.
|
| Q 3:- |
Why restore instead of replacing my windows, isn’t newer better? |
Ans:
We have a misconception that newer is better; this is not necessarily the case with old wood windows. The wood that was used to craft your windows is much more dense and better quality then wood today. Years ago the wood used was not from wood farms that are mass producing wood like today. You can get the same benefits along with keeping the beauty of your windows that replacing them would offer. To learn more please read, Restore Vs Replace windows .

| Q 4:- |
Is there a warranty with reconstructing my windows? |
|
Ans:
We offer 1 year on our workmanship. Within the first year if anything goes wrong your windows are fully covered. The glass is covered under a 20 year manufacturer warranty against fogging.
|
| Q 5:- |
How energy efficient will my windows be after the rehabilitation is complete? |
|
Ans:
This depends on the home. We are able to obtain a .38U value at the center of glass with a 3/8 inch airspace. If your windows allow for a 1/2 inch airspace we will be able to achieve the .30U value and utilize new Low E glass to attain the shade coefficient. Your current windows are likely providing a U value of .93 - 1. The lower the U value the better.
|
| Q 6:- |
What is the cost to renovate and repair my windows? |
Ans:
We try to be very competitive in the reconstruction of your windows. We are typically more expensive than vinyl replacement windows and are not targeting that market. If you like the aesthetics and architectural integrity of your old windows and can appreciate the soul and character that they provide you will find our prices to be very competitive against quality wood replacement windows. Our customers have found that we are typically 1/2 to 2/3 the price of replacement and in extreme cases we have heard prices that were over 3 times the amount we charged. Don't be fooled. We'll provide a quality service at a reasonable price. Contact us for a no obligation in home estimate !
